All about Teeth Whitening

What causes teeth to discolour?

Teeth discolouration is attributed to some of our favourite indulgences such as red wine, our love of coffee and tea, highly coloured foods and sweet treats like chocolate and lollies. Smoking as well as some antibiotics also contribute to your teeth losing their natural colour.

So it’s no wonder wanting whiter teeth has become one of the most popular dental treatments, especially with people who have an important upcoming event such as a wedding or special milestone event or celebration.

Teeth whitening treatment options

While there are many whitening treatments to choose from – including, home remedies, whitening toothpaste, over-the-counter DIY whitening and dentist treatments – they will vary in their effectiveness. At Core Dental Group, you can choose from ZOOM! in-chair whitening, customised at-home whitening or a combination of both.

ZOOM! in-chair whitening is completed at the dental practice and is tailored to your needs. It’s safe, generally very effective, only takes about an hour and is ideally suited for people with little time who want to see an immediate result.

The formulated gel used for at-home whitening is less concentrated than that used for in-chair whitening, which is why desired results can take a couple of weeks to achieve. At home whitening is also used in conjunction with in-chair whitening to extend its effectiveness.

Before undertaking teeth whitening of any kind, it’s important to ensure you have good oral health.  For advice on the best teeth whitening solution for you, please contact us.
