Each case is different so there isn’t a set length of time but the average is 12 to 18 months. You will receive a full treatment outline when you come in for a free consultation, which includes an approximate timeframe.
How often do the aligners have to be worn?
Aligners need to be worn all the time. You remove them to eat, brush and floss your teeth and you can also remove them for special occasions.
I’ve had orthodontic treatment before but don’t like my teeth can I still get Invisalign?
Yes. Previous treatment doesn’t stop you getting Invisalign. In fact, the treatment is often shorter and cheaper.
How often do I see my practitioner during treatment?
You will need to visit us every 6 to 8 weeks for a progress review and to collect your next set of aligners.
What happens if I lose an aligner?
You can purchase replacement aligners for $100 per set.
Are there restrictions on what I can eat?
None. Because you remove the aligners to eat you can eat what you want. Brushing and flossing your teeth after each meal and before reinserting your aligners is recommended.
Is treatment painful?
Some people experience minor discomfort at each new stage of treatment, which usually goes away in a few days once you become accustomed to the new aligner. Most patients describe this as pressure, which is actually an indication the aligners are working and your teeth are moving.
Will Invisalign affect my speech?
You may find there is an initial adjustment period with having something new in your mouth but many people report no effect to speech at all.
Will I need to wear a retainer at the end of my treatment?
Yes. Retainers are required to keep your teeth in position but there is no additional cost.
Can I claim Invisalign on my private health insurance?
As each health fund and policy differs, you are best to check with your individual health fund provider.
